Labiaplasty — labia minora reduction — reshapes the inner labia to reduce excess tissue. It is one of the most requested female aesthetic-and-functional procedures, and for most of the patients who book with us the motivation is practical before it is aesthetic: chafing with certain clothing, discomfort during sport or cycling, pain during intercourse, irritation in the summer months. In many cases a concern about appearance comes second — as a consequence of the functional problem, not its cause.
We say this upfront because labiaplasty is often framed as "cosmetic surgery for the vulva" — and that framing is wrong for most of the women who come to us. It is a precise surgical procedure that corrects a specific anatomical configuration that was there from puberty or has changed after childbirth, and it resolves a daily-life problem. The fact that the result is also aesthetically more harmonious is a welcome consequence, not the primary reason.
The right candidate presents protrusion of the labia minora beyond the labia majora (with or without asymmetry between the two sides), experiences chafing, irritation or discomfort with clothing, during sport or during sexual activity, is over eighteen years old and developmentally mature, has no active vulvar infection or unresolved dermatologic condition at the time of surgery, and is a non-smoker around the time of surgery (smoking compromises healing in an area particularly sensitive to it).
We also see women for whom the motivation is purely aesthetic — and we operate on them with equal attention, with no judgement and no lecturing. The consultation is an honest one: if the anatomy does not require surgery we say so; if the right technique for you produces a better result than the one you may have read about online, we say so.
There are two main techniques, and the right choice depends on your anatomy. A serious consultation establishes the right one for your case — it is not "surgeon preference", it is matched to tissue.
Removes excess tissue along the free edge of the labium minus. Most common technique. Indicated when the edge is the problematic zone and the colouration is even along its length. The scar runs along the new edge and typically matures to be practically imperceptible.
Removes a V-shaped wedge from the centre of the labium and rejoins the edges. Preserves the natural edge and its colouration, useful when the patient wishes to keep the natural contour of the labial border. Technically more demanding; not every labium is a candidate.
A clinic that proposes only one technique for every patient is proposing the wrong technique for some of them. At consultation we assess your specific anatomy — photo-based initially, and confirmed in person on the day of surgery — and we explain which technique is right for you, and why. Clitoral hood reduction, when also indicated, is discussed and — if desired — performed in the same session.
Labiaplasty is performed under local anaesthesia with light sedation, or under short general anaesthesia when the patient prefers (and when combined with clitoral hood reduction or other associated procedures). Duration is typically forty-five minutes to one and a half hours. Day-surgery procedure — you return to the hotel the same afternoon. In a JCI-accredited hospital, with an anaesthesiologist present.
Resorbable sutures — no stitch removal required. The area is dressed with a simple pad; no internal dressings.
Discomfort and swelling are moderate but well controlled with standard analgesics. Cold compresses for the first forty-eight hours. Loose cotton underwear only. No baths, no swimming pools, no sexual activity. Desk work is realistic from day three to five, as long as prolonged sitting on hard surfaces is avoided.
Swelling resolves progressively. Cycling, intense sport and tight clothing deferred until week four. Return to sexual activity from week six is the standard recommendation.
Final shape and scar maturation settle over the first three to six months. Most patients describe the result not as "looking different" but as "no longer having that daily discomfort" — which is the right language for understanding what this operation does.
Honest risks: wound dehiscence (suture separation) if post-operative instructions are not followed — specifically return to sexual activity or cycling before the tissue is healed; infection, rare with correct wound care; asymmetries that may require a small touch-up (we perform touch-ups at six months if required, at no additional surgical fee); over-resection — the single most problematic complication in labiaplasty, and the reason the choice of surgeon and the choice of technique matter so much. Over-resected tissue cannot be restored. An experienced technique is conservative on the first pass; we can always remove a little more at six months if necessary, but we cannot put tissue back.
This is one of the procedures in which we most strongly recommend not choosing on price alone.
Labiaplasty is a precision operation in which the difference between a natural result and an over-resected one is measured in millimetres. Our surgeons perform the operation weekly, with photographic documentation before and after (with your consent and under absolute confidentiality). JCI-accredited hospitals, female-led consultation pathway, all-female nursing team available for patients who prefer it.
**Dr. Mustafa Ekrem Güleş** approves every patient clinically before surgery.
On labiaplasty, the rock-bottom price is paid in over-resection, asymmetries and scars that remain visible. A clinic quoting labiaplasty at €600 often performs a single standardised technique on every patient (without considering anatomy), uses aggressive resection to "guarantee a visible result" (a euphemism for removing too much), and has no post-operative pathway. The consequences are permanent and often cannot be repaired.
What you pay for with us is verifiable: honest photo-based assessment before travel, technique chosen for your anatomy, all-female consultation pathway available, conservative first-pass resection with touch-up option at six months at no additional surgical fee, JCI-accredited hospital, follow-up at 1, 3 and 6 months via WhatsApp in English.
Every communication with us is confidential. Messages are answered by a female team member. Invoices use discreet descriptors. The consultation room, the hospital admission, the post-operative follow-up — all managed with the same confidentiality. Nobody needs to know you travelled except those you choose to tell.
Our team replies in English on WhatsApp, phone and email. From the first photo-based assessment to the six-month check-up, your contact is consistent, female-led (on request) and English-speaking. Questions about recovery, return to sport, return to sexual activity, post-operative sensation — they come up often, and deserve immediate, English-language answers without embarrassment.
